[NIGERIA] NSCDC CG SPECIAL INTELLIGENCE SQUAD BUST ILLEGAL OIL BUNKERING & STORAGE CARTEL

 


  • The Commandant General's Special Intelligence Squad has busted two illegal petroleum products dump sites in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The operation was carried out by the CG's Special Squad who valiantly stormed Jahi 1 and Katampe Area of Amac, confiscating over 130,000 litres of suspected vandalized adulterated Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and other items. The CG SIS also arrested two suspected owners of the illegal oil dump sites.

    This vital operation by the NSCDC occured at this very trying period when Nigerians are battling with the current scorching hullabaloo caused by the sporadic fuel price hike all over the country.

    In addition to this, the arrest of these suspected illegal oil barons came barely 24 hours after the Head, Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad [CG's SIS], the indefatigable and indomitable DCC Daudaura S. Appollos JP was recognized and honoured with a distinguished award as the most outstanding NSCDC Anti-Vandal Officer of the year 2022. The award presented to him on Sunday the 27th of November 2022, by Nigeria's most prolific crime reporting journal, National Crimewatch Magazine publisher by astute pen pusher, Tony Okpe. founder Tony Okpe Communications and Chief Convener of National Crimewatch Awards. According to Okpe, NCA serves as a stimulant for all notable security agencies in Nigeria including the NSCDC to be more proactive, effective and Innovative in combating and exterminating crimes from the shores of the country. 

    However, commendations and kudos have been tripping in for the intelligence and bravery of the NSCDC CG's SIS team led by DCC Apollos for this gallantry and patriotic achievement.

    The Squad, acting on Intelligence  at about 1155Hrs of 29th of November 2022 at Jahi 1 area of Abuja Municipal Area Council, FCT discovered, raided and sealed up an illegal Petroleum product dump site that specializes in halting and illegal storage of suspected vandalised, and adulteration of Petroleum products, most especially AGO, before reload it into long, peddler trucks and other types of vehicles and objects for sales to the general public within FCT and its environs, thereby causing untold hardship to the public and sabotaging Government's efforts in ensuring the free flow of patroluem products in the FCT and its environs.
    The Squad, after sealing up the illegal dump site, arrested the following Suspects namely:  Chigozie Omeifeukwu 42 years from Idemmri LGA of Anambra state who was the dump manager and
    Sunday Akpokoye 35 years old from Esan LGA of Edo State, the driver.

    The CG's SIS confiscated the following exhibits namely; Eight (8) surface tanks , containing 42,900 litres of AGO,   8,000 litres of AGO, and 1,000 litres of AGO respectively. Others include 
    2 fourteen calibrated rubbers containing 300 litres of AGO and 1,000 litres of AGO respectively. Eight No.8 Tankes 
    11-  1No.Toyota Hilux (Tacoma)    carton colour no number and it was empty. 
    3 No.Pumping machines, 1No.white big  MIKANO generator and  2 Nos. Generators.




    Similarly, the Squad also raided and sealed up another illegal dump yard, located At Katampe Area in Abuja Municipal Area Council of the FCT, at about 1000hrs of 29thN ovember 2022 and arrested six (6) suspects namely: Mohammed Tukur 33 years, a Fulani from Ganye LGA , Adamawa state who was their staff, 
    Godwin Chukwu 50 years, an Igbo from Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State, a staff, Suleiman Mohammed 22 years, an Igala from Ankpa LGA of Kogi State, motorboy, Bashir Yahaya 22 years, an Igala from Ankpa LGA in Kogi State, staff, Amedu Moses 47 years, an Igbo from Igbo Eze North LGA , Enugu state, a staff, Uche Amedu 18 years,  an Igbo from Igbo Eze North LGA of Enugu State.

    The Suspects were arrested on the act while working at an illegal Petroleum product dump site, and the following 
    Exhibits were recovered; 5 No. empty  short Truck, 10 No. surface tanks all empty.ll Eight (8) containers with one used as an office.


    Other exhibits are 2 Nos. pumping machines, 5 Nos. Drums, 26 Nos. empty kegs, 2 containers locked and keyed but suspected to have some products and other dumped working tools, 1 Nos. Container with 5 Nos. Kegs of 25 litres of AGO, 9 Nos. empty drums, 23 Nos. Calibrated rubbers , 2 containing 1500 litre of AGO in each and 1 with 75 litres of AGO, 55Nos. Empty Drums, 12 Nos. Drums 12 with AGO, 68 Nos. Empty kegs, 11 Nos kegs containing condemned engine oils, 1Nos. Keg with PMS, 1Nos. with AGO inside and 1 Nos.White Van Reg no.  ABC 845 ZV
    The two (2) illegal dumps site and all the recovered exhibits mentioned above,though still at the crime scene, 
    were all handed over to the State Commandant, NSCDC, FCT Command for further investigation, parading and prosecution.
