 Beyond the awards and recognitions. National crimewatch magazine was also celebrating 14 years of extensive and well rounded crime reporting in Nigeria. National Crimewatch Magazine started as a Newsletter in 2003 to become a Newspaper in 2008 and Rebranded in 2014 into what we now call National Crimewatch Magazine. National Crimewatch Awards is one of their cardinal objective designed to celebrate, honour and recognition excellence in crime prevention and management within the Nigeria borders. It is gradually becoming of one the most prestigious and certified annual awards and celebration in Nigeria. It is actually an end of year party for those in the security and crime industry. As we are aware that the are genuine concerns about the high level of crime rates in Nigeria. The Nation today is replete with all kind of issues ranging from, corruption, armed-robbery, advance fee fraud, assassination, child and women trafficking, all manner of insurgencies, rape and above all terrorism to mention a few. The utilization of our resources and revenues generated by government at all levels and agencies has left so many unanswered questions, given the high level of Economic recklessness and public stealing that has become a National embarrassment from some leaders in position of Authority. The resources and revenues generated is meant to provide basic infrastructure, like portable drinking water, electricity, roads, good health care, education, housing and most importantly security of lives and properties. National Crimewatch Magazine is concerned with all of the above issues. Good governance, efficient policing, human capacity building among others form the bedrock for the 2017 edition of the National Crimewatch award. The lead awards for this year edition are the National Crimewatch Man of the year won by Dcp Ibrahim Magu, acting Chairman of the EFCC and Governor of the year Crime Prevention won by His excellency Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the amiable Governor of  Lagos state for their impeccable exploit since they assumed office on November 9, 2015 and may 29, 2015 respectively.
