Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWA­MA) Sole Administra­tor, Mr Felix Obuah, has commended Governor Nyesom Wike for initiat­ing the “Operation Leave the Road” programme with a view to keeping the streets and roads safe, clean and healthy.
Obuah in a statement issued by his aide, Mr Jerry Needam, described the directive as another bold step aimed at re­storing the Garden City status of Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He asserted that the programme would help to make Port Harcourt and its environs clean and safe at all times.
Obuah, who is also the chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, lauded the programme for its time­liness as it aims to com­plement the aesthetic beauty of the state which is currently carrying out activities as part of her Golden Jubilee celebra­tion.
The RIWAMA boss re­gretted that the previous administration failed to discourage indiscrimi­nate trading on the streets because it lacked the po­litical will to do so, add­ing that Governor Wike had taken the bull by the horn to bring sanity in governance. The Authority
